For the song Tranquility base, I began by playing piano and singing an improvised recording at home with my husband and dogs in the living room where I record. As I was improvising, my husband started to make a fire in our wood stove as it was raining and chilly outside. The sounds of my dogs getting up and my husbands making a fire were in the background of the recording and initially I had planned to do over, however I decided wanted to try to challenge myself to work with the existing recording and build upon the ambient sounds . This later led to what the arrangements and sounds I would further explore incorporating into the mix.This is Herstory. .. I later began to envision the composition as a supra mundane moment in a world where that unsuspecting moment in time becomes a historic document of an event of a family life shared and sung through the voice of a female protagonist. This saying of the Being becomes a defining moment in her story bringing a nod to historic sampled audio portrayals of moon launch and the juxtaposition of her story that would normally not be considered anything for the history books now becomes a tale that illustrates an expansion -"This happens in the world’s inner space. That space touches man when, in the inner recalling of conversion, he turns toward the space of the heart."
